CJI Surya Kant reorganizes the SC's AI committee

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has reconstituted the Supreme Court’s Artificial Intelligence Committee to guide the use and development of AI tools in the judicial system.

The newly formed committee will be led by Justice P. S. Narasimha of the Supreme Court. Other members include:

  • Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court

  • Justice Raja Vijayaraghavan V, Kerala High Court

  • Justice Anoop Chitkara, Punjab & Haryana High Court

  • Justice Suraj Govindaraj, Karnataka High Court

According to an official statement, the committee will continue to oversee and support AI-related initiatives in the Supreme Court and lower courts, with the aim of improving efficiency, accessibility, and transparency in the justice system.

Anupam Patra, Registrar (Technology) of the Supreme Court, will serve as the Member-Secretary and Convener of the committee, while Ashish J. Shiradhonkar from the Supreme Court’s e-Committee will be a special invitee.
