Solstice Data, based in Dubai, agrees to invest Rs 52,600 crore in Kerala

Dubai-based Solstice Data has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to invest about Rs 52,600 crore in a major data centre project at the KINFRA Industrial Park in Kerala’s Kannur district.

Under the agreement, around 100 acres of land within the industrial park located in Mattannur will be allocated to the company to develop advanced data centre infrastructure. The project is expected to support the growing demand for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing capabilities.

The Memorandum of Understanding was formally exchanged in Thiruvananthapuram between Raj Babu Thulaseedharan, India country head of Solstice Data, and Santhosh Koshy Thomas, managing director of Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation. The ceremony was attended by P Rajeev and Director of Industries P Vishnuraj.

Solstice Data specialises in designing, building and operating AI-driven high-performance computing data centres that support advanced computing workloads such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and large-scale data processing. The company is headquartered in Dubai and currently manages more than 60 data centre projects across global locations, including the United States and Canada.

According to Industries Minister P Rajeev, the proposed data centre project is expected to open significant opportunities for Kerala’s digital ecosystem and strengthen the state’s technology infrastructure. The project will be implemented in collaboration with local partners and is planned to be completed over a period of five to seven years.

The KINFRA Industrial Park in Mattannur covers around 175 acres in total, of which about 123 acres are currently available for industrial activities following infrastructure development. The park already houses a 36,000-square-foot Standard Design Factory that has been fully allotted for industrial use, while land has also been allocated to 12 other enterprises operating within the park.

With the agreement signed with Solstice Data, the remaining 100 acres of available land in the park will be utilised for the data centre project, marking a significant milestone for industrial development and technology investment in the region.
