Global Leaders, Tech CEOs to Gather in New Delhi for AI Impact Summit
New Delhi: At least 17 heads of state, the United Nations chief and several global technology CEOs are set to attend next week’s AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, the Indian government said on Friday.
Touted as the largest edition yet, the fourth annual summit will bring together world leaders and industry executives to address the risks and opportunities posed by rapidly advancing artificial intelligence.
According to India’s foreign ministry, leaders from France, Brazil, Spain and the United Arab Emirates will participate, along with representatives from 13 other nations. Among prominent tech executives expected to attend are Sundar Pichai of Google, Sam Altman of OpenAI, and Jensen Huang of Nvidia.
The summit “will bring together global leaders, policymakers, innovators and experts from across the world to deliberate on the way forward for AI,” the ministry said in a statement.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally open the two-day leaders’ segment on Thursday. Panel discussions and related events are scheduled to begin on Monday.
The Delhi summit will focus on themes including child safety, sustainability and responsible AI development. Leaders from Bhutan, Croatia, Finland, Greece, Mauritius, the Netherlands, Serbia, Slovakia, Sri Lanka and Switzerland have confirmed their participation.
Ministerial delegations from at least 45 countries are also expected to attend, along with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Previous editions of the AI Impact Summit were held in Paris, Seoul and Bletchley, the British wartime code-breaking hub.
