Wipro Bags $1 Billion Olam Deal, To Acquire Mindsprint for $375 Million
Wipro has secured a major strategic deal with Olam Group, valued at over $1 billion, while also announcing the acquisition of Olam’s IT and digital services arm Mindsprint for $375 million. The combined transaction marks one of the largest recent engagements in the IT services sector and signals Wipro’s renewed push toward large-scale, consulting-led deals.
As part of the agreement, Wipro will acquire 100% ownership of Mindsprint in an all-cash deal, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. The acquisition is expected to be completed by mid-2026, after which Mindsprint will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Wipro.
Alongside the acquisition, Wipro has entered into an eight-year strategic transformation partnership with Olam Group. The total contract value is expected to exceed $1 billion, with a committed spend of around $800 million, translating to roughly $100 million annually.
The deal is structured as a combination of acquisition and long-term services engagement, making it more strategic than traditional outsourcing contracts. Wipro will deliver end-to-end digital transformation services across Olam’s global operations, leveraging its consulting-led approach and AI-powered platforms.
Mindsprint brings significant domain expertise in food and agribusiness technology, along with proprietary platforms focused on supply chain, procurement, and trading solutions. With over 3,200 professionals, the company has been deeply integrated into Olam’s operations, making it a valuable addition to Wipro’s capabilities.
Through this acquisition, Wipro aims to strengthen its position in the “farm-to-fork” value chain, a sector increasingly reliant on digital transformation, data analytics, and artificial intelligence. The combined capabilities of Wipro and Mindsprint are expected to enhance operational efficiency, improve supply chain resilience, and support innovation across Olam’s business lines.
For Olam Group, the divestment of Mindsprint is part of its broader reorganisation strategy, which focuses on streamlining operations and unlocking value from non-core assets. The partnership with Wipro allows Olam to continue benefiting from advanced technology services while focusing on its core agribusiness operations.
The transaction also reflects a broader trend in the IT services industry, where companies are increasingly combining acquisitions with long-term contracts to secure stable revenue streams and deepen client relationships. Such deals provide greater visibility and predictability compared to conventional project-based engagements.
From Wipro’s perspective, the deal represents a strategic shift toward high-value, large-scale engagements under its current leadership. It enhances the company’s consulting, platform, and industry-specific capabilities while reinforcing its focus on AI-driven transformation services.
