Nasscom, an IT organization, recommends against visiting the Middle East
Nasscom has advised its member companies to postpone travel to conflict-affected areas in the Middle East as tensions continue in the region. In a statement, the industry body said it is closely monitoring the situation but IT industry operations are continuing normally for now.
Nasscom also asked companies to allow employees currently working in the region to opt for work-from-home arrangements where possible. The organisation said companies should remain alert and be prepared to take additional safety measures if the situation worsens.
India’s IT sector is already facing pressure from the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, and the Middle East conflict could further slow technology spending and delay expansion plans in the region.
Major IT companies have already issued travel advisories to their staff. Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys have asked employees to avoid non-essential travel to the Middle East due to disruptions in regional airspace and increasing geopolitical tensions. Wipro has also told employees in the region to follow local government guidelines and is monitoring the situation closely.
Nasscom said it is coordinating with the Nasscom Middle East Council and has advised employees in the region to stay in regular contact with their embassies and follow official instructions if the situation changes.
