Lumikai contributes $1.5 million to the nursing education company Nprep
Nprep has raised $1.5 million in seed funding from venture capital firm Lumikai. The startup was founded by Prince Kaushik, Utkarsh Paliwal and Gourav Khurana, who are all alumni of All India Institute of Medical Sciences Jodhpur.
The company offers a video-first learning platform designed for candidates preparing for nursing entrance examinations and government healthcare roles. According to Kaushik, the newly raised capital will be used to scale the startup’s AI-powered learning platform, expand exam-focused educational content and reach more nursing aspirants across India who are preparing for government jobs and international healthcare opportunities.
India has one of the largest nursing workforces in the world, with more than 3.3 million registered nurses and midwives. Every year, over 200,000 graduates join the workforce. At the same time, thousands of candidates compete annually for government nursing entrance exams, creating strong demand for structured exam preparation resources.
Kaushik said that preparation for such exams is still largely dominated by offline coaching institutes and static learning materials such as PDFs and recorded lectures. These methods often provide limited access to personalised preparation tools for candidates.
Nprep aims to address this gap through an AI-driven, video-first learning platform that offers personalised study plans, exam-oriented practice questions and adaptive learning pathways tailored to each student’s performance.
Kaushik noted that the financial incentives for clearing government nursing examinations are significant. A nurse earning about ₹20,000 per month in a private hospital can potentially earn close to ₹1 lakh per month after securing a government nursing job.
The platform currently hosts more than 1,400 hours of exam-aligned educational content and uses an AI mentor along with performance analytics to guide students through their preparation journey. According to the company, more than 100,000 nurses have used the platform within ten months of its launch, collectively consuming over six million minutes of video content and answering more than 31 million practice questions.
