Infosys invests Rs 290 crore to expand its Mohali center, adding 3,000 seats

Infosys on Thursday announced the expansion of its Mohali Development Centre, marking the move with a formal groundbreaking ceremony at the campus. The company has committed an investment of around Rs 290 crore for the new facility, aimed at strengthening its footprint in North India and enhancing its delivery capabilities.

The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, including Bhagwant Singh Mann and Sanjeev Arora, along with key Infosys executives such as Jayesh Sanghrajka, Sunil Kumar Dhareshwar and Niladri Prasad Mishra.

As part of the expansion, the company will construct a new software development block along with supporting infrastructure. The upcoming facility will have a built-up area of approximately 350,000 square feet and is expected to accommodate around 3,000 employees. The expansion is designed to strengthen Infosys’ ability to design, co-create and deploy AI-led solutions at enterprise scale.

Currently, Infosys’ Mohali operations employ close to 1,000 people and cater to global clients across sectors such as banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), retail and healthcare. With the new development, the company aims to further deepen its capabilities in areas including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, application development and large-scale digital transformation.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said the expansion reinforces Punjab’s position as an emerging hub for technology and innovation. He noted that the investment is expected to generate significant employment opportunities for youth in the state and neighbouring regions, while also strengthening the broader IT ecosystem.

Jayesh Sanghrajka described the expansion as a key milestone in advancing the company’s AI-first strategy. He said the integrated development would allow Infosys to leverage strong local talent, improve operational agility and provide employees with a flexible hybrid work environment. He added that the investment would contribute to the region’s growing technology ecosystem while creating high-quality employment opportunities.
