For $240 million, HCLSoftware will purchase Jaspersoft, a business intelligence platform
HCLSoftware to Acquire Jaspersoft from Cloud Software Group for $240 Million
HCLSoftware, the software products division of HCLTech, has announced plans to acquire Jaspersoft, a business unit of Cloud Software Group, for $240 million in cash. The transaction will be executed as an asset carve-out, with Jaspersoft’s 115 employees set to transfer to HCLSoftware. The deal is expected to close within six months, subject to regulatory approvals, including clearance from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).
The acquisition is aimed at strengthening HCLSoftware’s Data & AI division, Actian, which has seen rising enterprise demand over the past five years for capabilities such as metadata management, data catalogues and data governance.
This marks the third acquisition by HCLTech in a single month and its fourth buyout in 2025, underscoring an aggressive inorganic growth strategy. Just last week, the company announced the acquisition of Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s telco business unit, also through an asset carve-out structure.
Jaspersoft offers a comprehensive business intelligence and reporting platform, enabling organisations to build reports, interactive dashboards and advanced data visualisations. HCLSoftware said the acquisition will enhance Actian’s ability to deliver an end-to-end, immersive data management experience, while also expanding its reach through Jaspersoft’s large global community of data engineers and architects.
“As GenAI adoption accelerates, our customers are seeking business intelligence solutions that deliver consistent analytics and reporting while allowing them to fully own the analytics experience,” said Marc Potter, chief executive of Actian and portfolio general manager of HCLSoftware’s Data & AI division.
From the seller’s side, Steven Schneider, general manager of the analytics business unit at Cloud Software Group, said Jaspersoft has built strong global credibility through its embedded analytics capabilities. “We believe HCLSoftware is a strong strategic owner for the business,” he added.
The acquisition further reinforces HCLTech’s push to scale its software-led revenues, deepen its Data & AI portfolio, and capitalise on growing enterprise investments in analytics, governance and AI-driven decision-making.
