Drink Prime, a water purification business, has raised $2.2 million from Artha Continuum and Mirabilis Investment
Bengaluru-based startup DrinkPrime has raised $2.2 million in fresh funding from Artha Continuum Fund and Mirabilis Investment Trust, as it looks to expand its technology capabilities and geographic footprint.
Founded in 2016 by Vijender Reddy Muthyala and Manas Ranjan Hota, the company operates a subscription-based platform that provides IoT-enabled water purifiers to households. CEO Muthyala said the newly raised capital is not meant for day-to-day operations but will be used to strengthen the company’s technology stack and support its next phase of growth.
DrinkPrime plans to use the funds to expand into 20 new cities across India. It is also focusing heavily on improving its IoT and data capabilities, which will allow better device monitoring, predictive maintenance, and an enhanced customer experience.
The startup has shown strong revenue growth over the years, with operating revenues rising from ₹4.6 crore in FY21 to ₹75.1 crore in FY25. While losses had widened to ₹27.4 crore in FY23, they have since narrowed to ₹11.5 crore in FY25, indicating improving financial efficiency, according to data from Tracxn.
DrinkPrime revealed that around 80% of its customers are first-time water purifier users who previously depended on bottled water, while the remaining 20% have switched from traditional purifier brands—highlighting a shift toward subscription-based consumption models.
The company has been steadily raising capital to fuel its growth. In May 2024, it secured $3 million in funding led by SIDBI Venture Capital. Earlier, in 2021, it raised about ₹21 crore in a pre-Series A round led by Sequoia Capital Surge, with participation from Omidyar Network India. In 2022, it followed this with ₹60 crore (around $7.5 million) in a mix of equity and debt from investors including Omidyar, Sequoia Surge, 9Unicorns, Northern Arc Capital, and Unitus Capital. Overall, the company has raised close to $20 million to date.
In the competitive landscape, DrinkPrime faces rivals such as Livpure Smart, Zunpulse, and OCEO, all of which are working on smart and subscription-based water purification solutions.
With fresh funding and a focus on technology-led differentiation, DrinkPrime is positioning itself to capture a larger share of India’s growing demand for affordable and convenient water purification services.
