Agnikul Cosmos, a space firm, receives Rs 25 crore from the Tamil Nadu government

The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) has announced an investment of ₹25 crore in Chennai-based space startup Agnikul Cosmos under its Startup Investment Policy 2025, signaling the state’s continued push to support high-tech innovation and private space ventures.

Founded in 1965, TIDCO serves as a key industrial development agency of the Tamil Nadu government, playing a major role in facilitating large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects through joint ventures and strategic investments. Its latest move into the space sector reflects a broader effort to position Tamil Nadu as a hub for advanced manufacturing and aerospace development.

The funding is expected to accelerate Agnikul Cosmos’ operational readiness and support the expansion of its aerospace manufacturing capabilities. It will also aid progress on the company’s stage recovery program, which focuses on developing reusable rocket technology, and strengthen the growth of its integrated space campus being developed on 300 acres of land allocated by the state government near Kulasekharapatnam.

Commenting on the development, cofounder and COO Moin SPM said the investment serves as strong motivation for the team to continue building and contributing to the local ecosystem.

Agnikul Cosmos is currently working toward its first orbital launch using Agnibaan, a rocket designed to carry small satellites into orbit. At the same time, the company is advancing its recoverable booster program, with the ambitious goal of creating the world’s first fully recoverable small satellite launch vehicle.

The investment highlights growing confidence in India’s private space sector and underscores Tamil Nadu’s intent to play a leading role in nurturing next-generation aerospace companies.
